Dhcp is not updating dns windows 2016
In most cases, the client should own it's own record. So the DNS client service on the PC's should be updating the record when they receive a new IP.Scavenging appeared to be configured, but not actually working.I mentioned this and got 'Yeah, we know.'So I decided to do some poking around.DC1 has DNS servers setup as itself and DC2 (primary and secondary)DC2 has DNS servers setup as DC1 and itself (primary and secondary) Do you have an account set up as proxy for the DHCP server to register users?
I also noted a staggering amount of old, outdated DNS records.
Thanks for the response DCs changed accordingly, as well as DHCP settings. I see what you mean about the scavenging, however scavenging doesn't even seem to be taking place, as there are lots of outdated records.
We're running 2003 At the same time, I'm combing through AD and rationalizing group memberships.
